It can help increase productivity, improve motor performance, boost your alertness,spark creativity, stave off sleep deprivation, reduce irritability and help lower tension.

The exact time when you should take a nap, however, depends on what time you regularly wake up and go to bed. Nap too late in the day and it could potentially interfere with yoursleep patterns at night.Take a power nap for longer than an hour and it might leave you feeling groggy, so be sure to set your alarm, find a comfortable place to rest and sit upright so you don’t fall into a deep sleep.Even a 5 or 10-minutenap can help give you an energy boost.

If you have enough time in your day, you can even take a quick walkor try a short caffeine nap (otherwise known as a ‘napalatte’) by drinking a cup of coffee and taking a 20-minute sleep afterwards. Doing so will help the caffeine kick in after you wake up and deliver that much-needed skip in your step.

But be warned, power napsare not for everyone, so you might be better off setting a regular bedtime for yourself, while some workplaces might not be appropriate for napping.Power naps are also not recommended for those who suffer from insomnia or sleep apnoea.
